Getting Started - Historic Quarterbacks

If you select the Use Historic Quarterbacks option, the game will draw first-string quarterbacks for each team (or allocate that many for the preference or full draft) from the historic quarterbacks data file.

This file contains a set of quarterbacks going back more than half a century.

You can assign quarterbacks in three different ways:

  • Assign to Historic Teams: This box can only be checked when using a player file, beginning the league with players already on teams, and default team assignments. When this box is checked, when starting a new universe, the game will randomly select a historic quarterback associated with each franchise and replace the first-string quarterback from the player file. The team identifier in the historic quarterback file will match one of the teams in the default_teams file.
  • Use Historic Quarterbacks when you've selected a player file: If you don't, or can't, check the Assign to Historic Teams box, but you're using a player file, when starting a new universe the game will randomly select historic quarterbacks from the historic quarterbacks file and replace the top quarterbacks in the player file. If you're beginning the league with players already on teams, the historic quarterbacks will take the place of player file quarterbacks. If you're beginning the league with an allocation draft, the historic quarterbacks will be included in the draft and the quarterbacks they replace will not.
  • Use Historic Quarterbacks when you are not using a player file: Since these universes always begin with an allocation draft, the game will randomly select historic quarterbacks from the historic quarterbacks file and use them instead of creating top tier fictional quarterbacks.
