Version 9.0c Update

The 9.0c update was released on November 18, 2023.

Issues Addressed

  • Improve bias for appropriate position group replacements on offense in the event of a severely restricted roster (from injury, most likely)
  • Reports that the game may skip a Sunday simulation of games during the season. We're unable to determine how this happens, and if anyone has a game saved immediately before this event, we're quite interested in seeing it. Some code was added as a potential fix, but it might not address this issue.
  • Crash experienced at end of play-calling in game, instead of Exit button appearing (unable to recreate). More code was being added to try and address this, but it might not be completely fixed.
  • Crash reported when trying to access Podcast. The issue is that in these cases, the call to Windows to synthesize speech is crashing. Attempt to stop crash added in 9.0a and provide a warning message in 9.0c. If this doesn't help, turn off speech in podcasts through the global settings.
  • Crash reported from Snap Counts screen, but unable to recreate. Added code to preserve function and prevent crash if database provides unusual values.
  • Schedule does not properly categorize divisional and conference games in first season when the universe stars with a default installed player file.
  • Salary Cap screen, Cap Space in Use for Next Season, sorts based on secondary sort criteria rather than that field.
  • Show Improvisation rating for quarterbacks on player cards and in pop-ups.
  • On Preview screen, weather forecast, snow and rain predictions are reversed.
  • On Find a Player screen, add a position grouping for all players except specialists.
  • On Player cards and pop-ups, Kick Holding added as an attribute for punters and kickers.
  • On Amateur Draft screen, popups with combine values do not properly display timed events from .00 to .09 of a second.
  • Team Opposing Quarterback Rating ranking on Preview screen is reversed.
  • Work done to make the choice to use less of an X-factor more obvious in creating new players from files.
  • Efforts to make the error message if simulation cannot continue because of a roster issue more meaningful.
  • Add fields to Ranked Free Agents screen for best fit, height and weight.
  • When exiting Playoff Probability screen to go to some screens that show schedule information, on first look games that haven't yet been simulated may show a score with no statistics until another screen is viewed.
  • Veteran holdouts do not appear on the Roster screen.
  • Criteria for inclusion on League screen, Pass Completions top three, is based on incorrect information and will not necessarily include the right players.
  • The trading deadline for a season is not always enforced.
  • Attempt made to prevent spoiling turnovers when in play-calling mode by sending additional information to simulation thread.
  • Fine-tuning of pass-defense percentage calculation for cases where player rarely goes back into pass defense.
  • Add ability to right-click on depth chart entry to remove player in that position.
  • Depth charts refresh and remove player that should not be in depth charts after message indicates the error.
  • Draft History screen was not providing full list of players to player card when clicking on player name.
  • Added career games played to Draft History screen.
  • List of players attending a college was a back door to viewing (somewhat inaccurate) post-draft player cards for draftable players.
  • If ones digit of round is 2 or 3 and tens digit is more than 1, detection for ordinal of round is missed.
  • For position changes, raise limit of defensive right and left ends from 315 to 325 pounds to account for 34 preference for bigger defensive ends. Slight adjustment to OLB as well for consistency with linebacker moves.
  • Added team's defensive front to pop-ups for defensive players during amateur draft and initial full preference draft.
  • Too much variance in weight generation for new players, especially OLB and DL. Means too low for DE, other minor adjustments.
  • Improvements to end of half/game field-goal choices, particularly last play of second quarter and differentiation of first-possession decisions in overtime.
  • Players who have never been signed are shown as First Signed by team 0 on player card.
  • AI teams do not use their allotment of injured reserve activations.
  • Year Index screen, all-league teams, mouse-over works properly, but left-click doesn't bring up player card.
  • Staff retention AI doesn't properly check user setting for handling GM functions.

Data Files and Saved Games

  • Saved games can continue.
  • For those who are working on customization, please remember to back up all your work. This update does not change any of the .csv files.
  • Steam updates should not touch other .csv files, but we can't guarantee that.

Steam Update Process

Your installation of Front Office Football Nine will automatically update on its own. If you go into the Steam app's Library and right-click on the game and examine Properties, you can change the priority for Updates. There's a line at the bottom of this screen that tells you when your game was last updated.

You can also view the Credits screen in the League Menu within the game. This screen shows the game's version. This update is version 9.0c.
